from Raw Wood to finished luxury

By D&B

Interview with Daniele Bonanno; Managing Director, Tutto Parquet Trading Ltd

In the bustling world of interior design, where trends come and go, wood flooring stands as a timeless symbol of both elegance and durability. But not all wood flooring is created equal. Enter Tutto Parquet, a Malta-based company that has redefined the art of engineered wood flooring.

Founded by Daniele Bonanno, Tutto Parquet is a beacon of quality, craftsmanship, and efficiency; offering bespoke flooring solutions to both residential and commercial clients.

What sets Tutto Parquet apart in a world filled with countless flooring options? What makes engineered wood such a superior choice over other materials? And why had Daniele, a native of Catania, Sicily, chosen to call Malta home for his flourishing business?

Design & Build sat down with Daniele to discover the story behind his success and learn what makes Tutto Parquet’s flooring solutions stand out from the rest.

DAniele’s journey into the world of wood flooring started in Catania, Sicily, where he honed his expertise in the flooring industry. For years, his company had been a trusted name in southern Italy. But one day, Daniele made a bold decision that would change everything. “I came to Malta almost as a bet,” he recalls with a smile. “We saw an opportunity in the construction boom here, and Malta seemed like the perfect place to expand. It was stable, growing, and full of potential—the land of opportunities, as we say.” From the very start, he set up a fully fledged Tutto Parquet showroom alongside one of Birkirkara’s principal arteries. Initially, their production continued in Sicily, but as business grew and demand increased, they took the crucial step of shifting production to Malta in 2021. “Now, Malta is our ‘sede principale’—our main headquarters,” Daniele explains proudly. “We’ve always strived to stay close to our clients, to understand their needs. By producing locally, we’ve created a system where the base material is held in our warehousing, and we can finish all orders locally in record time, customising them to our clients’ specifications. No huge inventory, just high efficiency and personalisation.”

THE BEAUTY AND LONGEVITY OF REAL WOOD

When it comes to flooring, there are many choices on the market – tiles, vinyl, laminate—but Daniele is quick to emphasise the enduring superiority of natural engineered wood. “Engineered wood – and synthetic products like laminate or vinyl are two completely different things. They’re not even in the same league,” he asserts. “With engineered wood, you’re investing in a product that you will keep for life. You can sand it, restore it, and make it more beautiful as time passes. Wood matures with age. La maturità dà più gioia al legno—the older it gets, the more joy it gives.” In contrast, Daniele highlights that synthetic options such as vinyl or laminate tend to lose their luster over time, becoming scuffed and unattractive. “Vinyl floors are more ‘usa e getta’ (use and throw away). Once they wear down, there’s nothing you can do. With wood, you can bring it back to life and it only gets better.”

For Daniele, the tactile warmth and timeless appeal of wood make it a far superior choice for spaces like living rooms, bedrooms, and shared commercial elite areas such as retail outlets, hotel and office lobbies, executive offices, and so on. “Wood creates an inviting, cozy environment that tiles just can’t match. Plus, it’s more environmentally friendly. It’s a natural, renewable material.

THE CRAFT OF CUSTOMISATION

At Tutto Parquet, that no two floors are alike is not solely due to the unique properties of natural wood. One of the core strengths of the company is its bespoke approach to flooring. Whether it’s choosing the perfect finish or a unique colour, Tutto Parquet offers clients an unparalleled level of customisation. “We also have an advanced tintometer (colorimeter) in our facility,” Daniele explains. “It allows us to perfectly match any colour

MASTERING COMMERCIAL PROJECTS: EFFICIENCY, EXPERTISE, AND VERSATILITY

Tutto Parquet’s success in the residential sector is undeniable, but the company’s true versatility shines through in its work with commercial projects. Over the years, they have become the go-to experts for Malta’s contractors and developers, having completed thousands of square meters of flooring in bustling commercial spaces, hotels, showrooms, and offices. When I ask Daniele about the commercial side of the business, his face lights up with pride. “We’ve become experts in working within live developments. The pace is fast, and the job doesn’t stop, but that’s what we’re used to.”

SPEED AND PRECISION: MEETING TIGHT DEADLINES

The ability to meet tight deadlines is one of the cornerstones of Tutto Parquet’s commercial success. Daniele explains that many of the company’s largest projects come with strict schedules, often dictated by opening dates for e worked with a number of large-scale developments, and what we pride ourselves on is the ability to get things done on time, every time – and at retail direct-client quality.”

“By producing locally, we’ve created a system where the base material is held in our warehousing, and we can finish all orders locally in record time, customising them to our clients’ specifications”

This efficiency is crucial in fast-paced environments where disruptions can cost time and money. Whether the job involves high-traffic areas like hotel lobbies or the elegant yet functional floors of a luxury showroom, Tutto Parquet has consistently delivered. “We’ve completed entire multi-floor hotel projects, showrooms, residential developments and office spaces, with zero delays from our end.

Our installation teams are trained to work quickly without compromising on quality.” Daniele points out that, unlike other types of flooring that might cause disruptions during installation, engineered wood flooring can be installed smoothly, with minimal mess and downtime. “Our click system is a game-changer in such commercial environments,” he adds, “especially in spaces needing to remain functional during installation.”

ADAPTABLE AND DIVERSE FLOORING OPTIONS

Tutto Parquet’s diverse range of flooring options is one of the reasons they’ve been able to cater so successfully to commercial clients. They offer a variety of styles, finishes, and designs that can suit any aesthetic, from sleek, modern offices to more traditional, rustic hotel interiors. “We understand that no two projects are the same,” Daniele explains. “For example, you might have a luxury showroom that demands a more sophisticated, refined look, while a hotel might call for something warm and inviting, yet durable enough to withstand heavy foot traffic.” Tutto Parquet’s engineered wood flooring isn’t just visually versatile; it’s also functional. Their multi-layer construction ensures that the floors are durable and stable, even in high-traffic areas, while the natural oak veneer provides a sophisticated aesthetic that appeals to both modern and traditional tastes.

“that no two floors are alike is not solely due to the unique properties of natural wood. One of the core strengths of the company is its bespoke approach to flooring”

Additionally, Daniele highlights the flexibility of their flooring system, which caters to both amateur and professional installers alike. “We offer a choice between the more modern click system, and the classic tongue and groove system which is better suited to those who are more experienced in installation, and which is available for bulk supply while still offering the same premium quality,” he says.

The click system, typically found in man-made parquet, is a modern adaptation of Tutto Parquet’s engineered wood. It offers an easy installation method, allowing for a more accessible and efficient installation process. “It’s a win-win for everyone—contractors get a fast, hassle-free installation, while clients enjoy the elegance and durability of a natural wood floor,” says Daniele.

A TRUSTED PARTNER FOR MALTA’S LEADING CONTRACTORS AND DEVELOPERS

Tutto Parquet’s relationship with Malta’s top contractors and developers is built on years of successful collaboration. “We’ve installed flooring in hotels, offices, and retail spaces all over the island, and we’re proud of the trust we’ve earned from some of the biggest names in construction and real estate development.” Daniele mentions projects like the Bortex showroom, River Island at Tigné Point, and Xara Palace as examples of their commercial expertise.

“We work seamlessly with developers, and we understand that their timelines and requirements can be very demanding. They count on us to deliver the flooring solution they need – and this we do on time, on budget, and with no compromises – time after time.” The company’s dedication to quality workmanship has resulted in a growing list of loyal clients. “Our commercial clients are always impressed by the attention to detail and the practicality of the engineered wood flooring we install. Not only does it look great, but it also stands up to the wear and tear of a busy commercial environment.”

THE ART OF INSTALLING IN COMPLEX, BUSY ENVIRONMENTS

Installing flooring in large, busy developments presents unique challenges. When I ask Daniele how his team handles these intricacies, he explains that careful planning and coordination are essential. “When you’re working in a live project, there’s a lot happening at once – construction workers, suppliers, and other contractors all operating on different timelines. We have to work around that, making sure our installation process is hindered as least as possible by any fluidity experienced by the project

“We work seamlessly with developers, and we understand that their timelines and requirements can be very demanding”

Tutto Parquet’s ability to adapt quickly and handle highpressure environments is a major selling point to developers. Daniele’s team is well-versed in tight coordination, ensuring that the flooring is seamlessly laid while the rest of the project continues without delay. Moreover, Tutto Parquet is one of the few companies which provide on-site inspections and ensures that the base preparation is up to the required standards before installation. “Before we lay down any flooring, we measure the humidity levels and ensure the subfloor is properly prepared,” says Daniele. “This is a critical step that many overlook, but it ensures that the flooring lasts for years without issues.”

WHY TUTTO PARQUET FOR COMMERCIAL PROJECTS

So, why should developers and contractors choose Tutto Parquet for their commercial flooring needs? According to Daniele, the answer lies in their unmatched expertise, efficient logistics, and customized service. “We’re not just supplying a product; we’re providing a complete flooring solution. From consultation to installation, we ensure that every project is handled with care and precision.” Tutto Parquet’s reputation for high-quality work has solidified their place as a leading name in commercial flooring in Malta. “Our clients are always happy with the end result. Whether it’s a luxury showroom or a high-traffic hotel, our floors perform beautifully, and they always make a lasting impression.”

“We’re not just supplying a product; we’re providing a complete flooring solution”

Whether a client has a specific vision in mind, or they just know the effect they want, we can create it. We use 16 primary colour bases and can blend them to achieve an almost unlimited range of hues.” This level of personalization is part of what makes Tutto Parquet stand out. Daniele’s hands-on approach ensures that every detail is considered. “I’m always here,” he says. “I oversee everything from production to the finished product. If something isn’t up to my standards, it doesn’t leave the factory. Indeed, a small percentage of their production is discarded for imperfections.

THE PROCESS BEHIND THE PRODUCT

The heart of Tutto Parquet is their engineered wood— multi-layered with a natural oak veneer on top and a softer, less prestigious wood composition beneath. This construction makes the flooring more stable and durable than solid hardwood while maintaining the authentic look and feel of real wood “We have both two-layer and three-layer options, depending on the thickness the client chooses,” says Daniele. He also emphasises the importance of installation. “The most important aspect of any wood floor is the installation. We don’t just supply the materials; we ensure the right installation as well. We use only the best European glue, underlay, and silicone sealer. And we’re always ready to guide clients through the process.”

SPEED, EFFICIENCY, AND SUSTAINABILITY

One of the reasons Tutto Parquet can offer such a high level of customization is because they handle production locally. The materials arrive in Malta, and the final touches—oil finishes, varnishes, and custom colours—are applied on-site. This means there’s no need for massive inventories, and they can turn around orders quickly, often within two to three weeks of an order being placed. “And if we don’t have a specific finish in stock, we can quickly source the materials and still meet our deadlines.” Beyond speed and efficiency, sustainability is a key focus for Tutto Parquet. “Our materials are EU-certified,” Daniele assures me. “We make sure the wood comes from responsible sources, and we always follow the industry’s best practices when it comes to sustainability.”

SERVING MALTA AND BEYOND

Tutto Parquet’s reach isn’t limited to residential homes. They also serve the commercial sector, with high-profile clients like Bortex, River Island, Benetton, Ralph Lauren, and Xara Palace using their flooring in showrooms and guest rooms. Their ability to work seamlessly with contractors and developers has made them a trusted partner for Malta’s top real estate projects.

“We’ve done everything from high-end hotels to retail spaces, and we understand the unique demands each type of project presents,” Daniele says. “For example, many of Malta’s top showrooms are done with Tutto Parquet flooring because we provide not only high quality but the efficiency and logistics that developers need.”

“We’re not just supplying a product; we’re providing a complete flooring solution”

Tutto Parquet also offers a range of decking options, including modular dismountable decking for outdoor spaces. Their decking materials—whether composite PVC, natural IPE, or Teak—are built to last and can be easily reconfigured if needed.

THE FUTURE OF FLOORING

Looking ahead, Daniele’s vision for Tutto Parquet is clear. “We’re going to continue doing what we do—but better,” he says with a smile. “We’ll expand our offerings, refine our processes, and keep providing our clients with exceptional products and services.” For those seeking a personalized, sustainable, and long-lasting flooring solution, Tutto Parquet is the clear choice. With their local manufacturing process, unmatched customization options, and deep commitment to quality, they’re not just selling flooring—they’re crafting a legacy.

“(Tutto Parquet) can turn around orders quickly, often within two to three weeks of an order being placed”

In a world of fleeting trends and mass-produced products, Tutto Parquet stands as a reminder of the enduring beauty of natural wood. Daniele Bonanno’s vision, combined with his hands-on approach, has transformed his company into a trusted name in both residential and commercial flooring. Whether it’s for a luxurious hotel room or a bustling showroom, Tutto Parquet offers a product that improves with age, making every floor not just a surface to walk on, but a part of the story. As they continue to innovate and refine their craft, one thing is certain: Tutto Parquet is building more than just floors – they’re creating the foundation for a sustainable, beautiful future.
