You Reap what you Sow; Care to materials and labour grants great results

By D&B

The company name that Justin Attard chose for his construction enterprise is a simple Just Construction Ltd and is obviously a play on Justin’s name and the work they do.

Yet a closer look will reveal that through it he is also obviously indirectly referring to the fact that “though it gives the owner’s name while indicating that the company will also do what is needed for the client because the owner is directly involved…. “And that he will ensure to deliver just what the client needs, and just in the agreed timing,” explained 34-year-old Justin enthusiastically.

Meet Justin Attard, a young and enterprising man who went into business with his father some 16 years ago, and who hasn’t looked back since.

“ Since that decision was taken for the start-up of Just Construction Ltd, with my father as partner, more than 16 years have passed,” he said. “It was practically just when I had finished my full schooling,” he added. Today, his father is still involved in the business though.

Limited liability company?

“My father hails from the larger Attard Brothers family business group and always wanted to open shop with me, developing something for us together. We had started off with only two employees – one of whom is still with us today – and the wish to be a fully-fledged limited liability company was always there from the start. We felt it was the right thing to do to have such a formation from our very beginnings.”
“Our original two employees have since expanded to 15 workers – a mix of local and foreign people. But we personally are also directly involved by being on-site as well. We have to set the example and lead through our participation and presence, as supervisors and project managers,” he added.

“Can you help out?”

The first jobs were small constructions, of the type of erecting two flats on top of an existing place. Justin remembers that most of the early works came through word of mouth and personal recommendations; “many on the lines of “We have this block and need to develop it… can you help out?” And as the requests flowed in, they invested further in growing their stock of tools and equipment such as shuttering and scaffolding to the quantities required to enable their company to proceed with works unhindered.

Just Construction Ltd is adamant to solely make use of quality materials, equipment and personnel in all its works.

There are occasions when Just Construction Ltd’s work force needs to temporarily grow due to the size of particular projects where they thus involve sub-contractors for a while, especially on situations where large demolitions are involved on the site of the project. “We also involve sub-contractors when any large project we have underway would be showing signs of running late and so we need to increase the workforce to finish it on time,” Justin added. Obviously, these sub-contractors would already be known to them for their quality of work and their professionalism. “We also ensure that we are present on site to check on them from day to day” said Justin.

all our materials are of the best quality available. We are obviously always fully stocked with ample supplies at hand

Justin further explained that they have good working relations with their client’s architects and professional designers since there will always be occasions when snags crop up unexpectedly during the production stages – and these need to be dealt with immediately and after consultation with the client and/or his architects and designers,” Justin tells us.

Just Construction Ltd’s Concrete Pumps are owned by the company and thus can be maintained at their required high levels of performance, safety and reliability.

“The materials we use are all supplied by Attard Brothers which, as the name implies, is the family concern with which we are linked to business-wise too. So, one realises too that all our materials are of the best quality available. We are obviously always fully stocked with ample supplies at hand,” he said.

Apart from the erection of buildings, Just Construction also get involved with alterations to existing buildings (such as the redevelopment of large houses into a larger number of smaller units), the construction of factories, and so forth. Even the concrete laying pumps Just Construction utilises are owned by their company. “We use them for our clients but also offer them out to other builders; as their quality is easily understood,” he added.

Justin explained that their pumps can actually deliver up to a reach of 45 metres which is approximately about 10 storeys.

Just Construction have invested in its own wide gamut of machinery and equipment to cover the entire gamut of construction requirements.

The advantage of their pumps, he said, is that they are narrow and long and therefore they are capable of reaching up high as well as deeply to the other side of a building project, as needed.

Our hi-ups are also available for rentals

If, on the other hand, the client requires “hi-ups” the company is able to supply or rent their own fleet. This way the hi-up can actually lift ready-mixes filled with concrete to the required height using the standard large buckets, which are then emptied on-site as needed.

This system is very useful for small sized projects such as for garage ceilings where the volume of concrete needed is small. And also, where keeping the expenses low is important for the client. “Our hi-ups are also available for rentals,” he added.

Conclusion

Just Construction’s reputation has been built on their supplying a building quality of consistently high standards and, as much as possible, delivered within the required time too…. “That’s how we intend to continue!” Justin pointed out. As for the future, Justin has no aspirations for changing what they are already doing so very well…
“For us the future will be Just In Construction!!” he enthuses.

a highly skilled workforce is integral to quality finished buildings with minimal wastage of space. This is where we shine

Client recommendations have given this company the chance to spread their name quickly and easily. The cross section of Just Construction’s clientele is split rather neatly between developers of buildings or apartment blocks and of private owners who want to go their own way in updating their property.…

“This is where our experience comes in handy to help or guide clients” he added. Developers as well as private owners are always on the lookout for good prices and high quality, delivered as promised and on time. This favours us to no end!” Justin enthusiastically added.

With the current trends moving towards buildings that are becoming of a somewhat smaller footprint, and utilising new, lighter bricks, Justin is finding that this gives his work a competitive advantage in that “a highly skilled workforce is integral to quality finished buildings with minimal wastage of space. This is where we shine. By using quality materials, highly skilled people and keeping an eye solidly upon every project we encounter, Just Construction provides true value for money for both their clients and the eventual inhabitants and users of the buildings they are entrusted with.
