Together Turnkey Contractors Ltd was established in 2014 and has since provided customers with a complete solution in the construction industry, specialising in finishes, conversions and restoration works. Together with their team of reliable and proficient craftsmen, Manuel and Charles focus on executing their clients’ vision via a complete turnkey solution.
With over 20 years of collective experience in the construction industry, Charles Briffa and Manuel Micallef complement each other, for their clients to reap the benefits.
The two met with their families at prayer meetings for married and engaged couples, called Together. “The meetings brought us together in faith and we became fast friends, which led us to working together and building strong collaborations with our clients as well as with our team members,” Manuel explained.
In the beginning of their work relationship, Manuel and Charles were contracted separately on the same site as they had been working in different, but complementary sectors of the construction industry. “We came across each other on a job and we were impressed by the quality of each other’s work. We had both come across disappointed clients, let down by shoddy workmanship, and started discussing the unfortunate negative reputation held by some; of turnkey contractors in Malta, with clients fearing being milked by the companies ,” Manuel recounted. Both men shared the values of striving to achieve high-quality workmanship, exceptional detailing, and embracing the latest materials and technologies available on the market, without bleeding the client dry.
Raised in the Industry
Charles was involved in the industry, mainly in carpentry, from a young age, through his close-knit family. He then moved on to wall finishes and for 20 years executed and mastered gypsum works, plastering, feature walls creation and painting. Manuel also started out in his field at a young age, initially as a professional tile layer and then moving on to a spectrum of applications (including bathroom installations).
Equally passionate about their work, the two put their heads together and decided to offer turnkey services to a select clientele, which was keen about quality work. “We take pride in our work and stake our reputation on it. Both of us come from the trade, which means that we know what we are – and everyone is doing and aren’t easily fooled. This really supports our clients to rely on us and our professional advice in all matters,” Charles explained.

Many of the clients serviced by Together Turnkey are foreigners, who are willing to pay market prices, as long as they get a good quality job. “With this clientele it is clear that the price we are charging them reflects the quality of the work we are delivering. There’s no messing around with these clients, and unfortunately some operators in the industry struggle to meet the demands of this discerning market segment. But since we are passionate about our work, delivering on quality comes naturally to us,” Manuel said, adding that the company’s steady growth has been constantly supported by their satisfied clients; spreading the good word, and remaining loyal to their services year after year, and project after project.
Charles makes it clear that while clients are willing to pay for a job well done, Together Turnkey is careful to use the client’s budget wisely and not to overspend. “We ensure that we deliver a high quality job from the get-go, which means that no unforeseen expenses crop up due to redoing poorly done jobs. We stake our reputations on our work,” Manuel emphasised.

In order to maintain their delivery dates for project completion without ever impinging upon their quality values, Together Turnkey also collaborate with a number of specialised, experienced and trustworthy professionals who excel in their respective fields and they are thus together able to collaborate on a range of projects, both residential and commercial. The team is accustomed to, and compliant with the quality level of work which Manuel and Charles are after.
“Together Turnkey acts as a single point of reference for clients, capitalising on expertise, market knowledge and material acquisition,” Manuel said, explaining that their strict quality-control policy supports the high standards to which they deliver.
The company also partners with preferred market-leading local suppliers (including Fino and Bathroom Design), with whom they enjoy very good business relationships. This enables Together Turnkey to directly offer clients valuable discounts from these leading suppliers. “Additionally, sourcing products from various suppliers allows us to support our clients by utilise the best products at optimum prices on the market, regardless of the brand,” Charles added.
“We want to retain our commitment and reputation for quality, and that means overseeing things personally and retaining a hands-on approach. You can’t do that if you grow too big”
Manuel Micallef
Together Turnkey takes on a vast array of jobs, ranging from the redo of a single bathroom to complete project management for an entire block of flats. “Such an A-to-Z project would entail tile laying, bathroom installations and plumbing solutions, electrical installations, plastering, painting, glasswork, woodwork and gypsum work as well as overall project management and interior design,” Charles explained.
“When we get a project for which we are responsible from start to finish, we begin by setting the furniture plan, so we can start with the client’s vision of the end result in mind. This enables us to incorporate all details – such as the water and electrical and wiring plans, the soffit designs, and so forth – at the outset, so we can execute everything to the client’s desired outcomes and even surpass them,” Manuel said, adding that this makes for a well thought out, smoothly run, seamless project execution. He added that Together Turnkey is currently working on a block of 14 apartments from start to completion. They are also well versed in working on villas and doing restoration jobs.
Conclusion
“While we are very focused and passionate about our jobs we know the importance of retaining a good work-life balance,” Charles said. Manuel explained that since they are both at the helm of the operation, they are well aware of the importance of taking good care of themselves and their dependants.
In terms of future plans, Together Turnkey is not keen on growing far beyond its current scope. Charles and Manuel aim to consolidate their current operation.
“We are keen to retain this position as we are very satisfied with our work output and we want to keep it this way,” Charles concluded. “We want to retain our commitment and reputation for quality, and that means overseeing things personally and retaining a hands-on approach. You can’t do that if you grow too big,” Charles explained.
Manuel told us that the company is open to taking on simultaneous jobs, as long as these do not affect the quality and pace of ongoing work, adding that “finding the right balance in this respect has always been critical to Together Turnkey, and will remain being so. We need to keep projects moving, since we employ highly specialised individuals, but at the same time we will not compromise on quality.”
