The basic premise of the prestressed concrete slab is that concrete is strong in compression and steel is strong in tension. The strength of these two materials is combined to produce a hollow core slab with varying load capacities depending on its thickness. Our hollow core product portfolio ranges from a slab thickness of 200mm to 525mm.
A prefabricated product saves time and resources onsite. In addition, it provides an immediate working platform. Higher load capacities are typically achieved when compared with a fully cast in situ roof of the same depth.
Another version of the prestressed slab is the Predalles slab. This is a permanent shutter which contributes to the overall load achieved by the concrete shutter + in situ topping. Our standard predalles are of thickness 70mm and 100mm with prestressed cables. Predalles are most efficient at spans between 3m and 5m but we have produced spans up to 6.6m. We are also able to produce custom predalles and lintels according to client requests.
When planning the installation of a precast roof, site access is an essential factor to be considered. We try to provide a logistical solution to every job that comes our way, by either making use of additional equipment onsite or by engaging the services of other contractors.
